Kansas Deer Hunting Trips - Rifle
Kansas Rifle Deer Hunting is usually the best way to harvest the bigger deer that you could not get close enough to shoot in muzzleloader season. The second rut is at peak during this time and a lot of deer movement usually occurs.

Deer are generally easier to find during this time of year since vegetation has nearly disappeared. Does are usually hanging around the food plots, and the bucks are close by, usually making their appearance during the early morning and late evening hours.

I typically like to go to the blinds before the morning daylight and leave around 10:00 am returning around 2 - 3 in the afternoon to get ready for the evening hour activity and waiting until after dark before returning back to the lodge. 		Kansas deer hunting with Cowskin Creek outfitters
With a lack of cover, deer seem to be able to sense your presence easier during this time of the season, so we take extra precautions to assure we do not spook the deer movement. The avid marksman definitely has an advantage during this season, at times they are able to reach out and touch deer at long distances.

Kansas Deer Hunting - Muzzleloader

Some of the biggest deer are taken in Kansas every year beginning in September during our muzzleloader hunts. A Kansas Black Powder Hunt usually consists of 70 to 80 degree weather.

Deer have generally been undisturbed all year and are not nearly as spooky in September during muzzleloader season. Bachelor groups of bucks are usually observed during this season giving the hunter a choice of kill on the Trophy Kansas Buck that he or she so desires.

Dense vegetation during muzzleloader season however can at times work both for or against you. Scopes are not allowed during the Kansas muzzleloader hunting season; however, the deer are much closer and they are not often missed.

The hunter has more cover during this time of year, so deer may appear out of nowhere - just feet or yards from you. It increases the likelyhood of "getting caught", so I emphasize cover equals cover scent which is a must during this season.
